Jesmonite AC100 Powder Base is the solid component of the popular Jesmonite AC100 acrylic composite system, designed for creating detailed decorative mouldings, glass reinforced laminates and a wide range of creative and construction projects. When combined with Jesmonite AC100 Liquid, it forms a strong, lightweight, eco-friendly material that captures fine detail and delivers a smooth, professional finish.
Formulated as a water-based, solvent-free composite, AC100 is a safer alternative to many traditional resin systems. It is widely used by artists, makers, prop builders and fabricators who require reliability, versatility and outstanding surface reproduction. Once mixed correctly, the material produces a durable yet lightweight composite suitable for both decorative and practical applications.
Mixing & Application:
Jesmonite AC100 is mixed by weight at a ratio of 2.5 parts Base Powder to 1 part AC100 Liquid. For best results, gradually add the powder to the liquid while stirring continuously to ensure a smooth, lump-free consistency. Small quantities can be mixed by hand using a wooden or plastic stirrer. For larger batches and optimal performance, the use of High Shear Jesmonite Mixing Blades is recommended to achieve a uniform blend.
Jesmonite pigments can be added either directly to the AC100 Liquid before combining, or to the fully mixed material. Pigment loading should not exceed 2% of the total mixed weight. Because the pigments are highly concentrated, only a small amount is required to achieve strong, consistent colour results.
Working & Curing Times:
Once thoroughly mixed, AC100 offers a working time of approximately 5-10 minutes, making it ideal for efficient casting and laminating. If a longer working time is needed, Jesmonite Retarder can be added to extend usability.
Demoulding is typically possible after 20-30 minutes, although allowing a little extra time can improve results. The material reaches its maximum cured strength after 24 hours, ensuring excellent durability and long-term performance.
