Description

Crestamould RTR 4010PA Tooling Resin is an advanced rapid tooling resin formulated to deliver faster mould making of tooling components with superior handling and performance. With its low viscosity, thixotropic profile and improved shrinkage control, this filled, low-profile tooling resin is easy to work with and produces high-quality, distortion-free moulds. Catalysed with standard MEKP, it is specifically designed for hand-lay mould making applications and forms an integral part of the Crestamould mould making system when used alongside Crestamould Gelcoat 15PA.

Engineered for efficiency, Crestamould RTR 4010PA allows fabricators to achieve quicker turnaround times without compromising on durability or finish. Its excellent wet-out properties ensure thorough impregnation of chopped strand mat or woven glass reinforcements, while its low-shrink formulation provides stable, accurate moulds. As the curing process takes place, the material undergoes a colour change to white, offering a clear visual indicator of cure progression.

For best results, the resin should be used at a workshop temperature between 20°C and 24°C (minimum 18°C) and mixed thoroughly before application. Only 1% MEKP catalyst is required, carefully dispersed into the resin prior to lay-up. While designed for hand-lay processes, it can also be spray applied if required. A resin-to-glass ratio of at least 3:1 by weight is recommended, with a minimum of three layers of 450gsm chopped strand glass mat (or equivalent) applied in a single operation for optimum strength, shrink resistance, and long-lasting performance.

  • Rapid tooling resin: Fast mould making with reliable performance
  • Low viscosity & thixotropic: Improved handling & easy application
  • Low shrinkage formulation: Ensures accurate, distortion-free moulds
  • Visual cure indicator: Colour changes to white during curing
  • Compatible with MEKP catalyst: Easy, consistent curing at 1% addition
  • Versatile use: Designed for hand-lay but also spray applicable
  • Works alongside Crestamould Gelcoat 15PA for professional results
  • Sizes available: 1kg, 5kg Tin, 10kg Tin, 25kg Tin

Good stuffReviewed by Info on 15 Apr 2025

Time saver when making molds. No longer have to wait for resin to cure after each layer, this can lay up 4 or 5 layers all in one go. Doesn’t shrink, and I add a bit extra aluminium powder for extra heat resistance!
