Description

Jesmonite Acid Etch removes the surface layer of cured AC730 to expose the decorative aggregate and pigments beneath, creating an authentic, natural, stone-effect finish. Used after curing, it subtly removes the surface layer, transforming flat casts into characterful, natural-looking surfaces.

Acid etching can dramatically change the look and feel of your work, making AC730 mimic a wide range of real stone textures more effectively. For best results, your AC730 piece must be left to cure for a minimum of 24 hours before etching.

Application & Use:

For a clean, even finish, wet the surface first with water before applying the acid solution. This reduces the risk of the acid marking or “burning” the surface on initial contact. Always work in a well-ventilated area with access to plenty of clean water.

Etch time typically varies from around 1 minute up to approximately 4 minutes, depending on the level of texture you want. Once the desired effect is reached, rinse thoroughly with copious amounts of clean water, then pat dry using a clean, dry cloth. When the surface is fully dry, you’ll be able to clearly see if any areas need a further application.

  • Designed to create a stone finish on Jesmonite AC730
  • Helps AC730 mimic a variety of real stone textures
  • Use only after AC730 has cured for at least 24 hours
  • Reveals decorative aggregate & pigment for a more natural surface
  • Apply to a pre-wetted surface to reduce marking on first contact
  • Produces varying etch levels in ~1 to ~4 minutes
  • Rinse with plenty of clean water & pat dry to assess results
  • Suitable for use in well-ventilated areas with a ready water supply
