Description

Description

Loctite Frekote PMC is a special blend of solvents designed to dissolve and remove wax from polyester moulds without dulling the surface. PMC can also be used to clean epoxy and metal mould surfaces as well as for cleaning brushes and equipment. PMC is highly recommended for preparing polyester mould surfaces prior to application of Frekote Mould Sealers and Mould Release Agents.

Properties

Specific Gravity: 0.830 +/-0.015
Special Cautions: Keep away from heat, sparks and open flame.
Shelf Life: Two years from date of manufacture.

Application *Consult MSDS prior to use

For FRP Moulds and Wax Removal PMC should be applied to the mold surface with a clean cotton cloth. Wax will immediately begin to dissolve and should be removed from the surface with a second clean cloth while it is still dissolved in the PMC. As the cloth becomes saturated with wax, dispose of it and use a new cloth. Repeat process until wax residue is removed. Wipe dry. The mold is then ready for application of Frekote Mould Sealer or Release. A simple test to assess mould cleanliness is the use of masking tape. A waxed surface will allow easy release of masking tape, whereas a wax free surface will allow good adhesion of masking tape. This test can also be used to determine the effectiveness of a Frekote interface. A good interface will prevent any significant degree of tape adhesion.

Note If you plan to use buffing compound prior to applying mould release, be sure to wipe clean with PMC after doing so, as many buffing compounds contain wax.

Flammability/Storage

Frekote PMC contains flammable solvents. The product should always be used in well-ventilated areas. Store in a cool, dry place. Consult MSDS for complete details.
