Description

Available in square metre (m²) quantities from 1 - 20m² or a full roll option. 600g (2oz) Fibreglass Chopped Strand Matting (CMS) is a heavy-duty, versatile and cost-effective reinforcement material designed for use with polyester resins in boat building and fibreglass flat roofing applications.

Made from chopped strands of e-glass bound together with an emulsion binder soluble in styrene, this is a general-purpose emulsion-bound chopped strand mat suitable for a wide range of applications using standard hand lay-up techniques.

The 600g mat is thicker and stronger than lighter 300g alternatives, providing increased structural strength and durability. While still soft and workable, it is best suited to less complex mould shapes and flatter surfaces where added reinforcement is required.

This high-quality mat is compatible with most unsaturated polyester resins. Resin penetration (wet-through and working time) is efficient, allowing for fast strand wet-out and reliable laminate formation.

Suitable uses: Commonly used within the boat building and fibreglass flat roofing industries, as well as in the manufacture of fibreglass moulds for part production. When combined with polyester resins, this material is also ideal for a wide range of structural and repair applications.

In roofing applications, one layer of 600g CSM allows foot traffic once fully cured, making it particularly suitable for balconies, walkways and roof areas that require periodic maintenance access or cleaning.

Could you tell me what the approximate coverage would be please ? May Thank Jon
Hi John. The usage is dependant on the surface being coated and whether it is sealed first of not. On sealed ply wood the coverage will be approx 400grm per metre square. Hope this helps
Hi Just bought some of this. There didn’t seem to be any mixing instructions though if you can let me know what they are and any advice on application. Thanks Keith F
Hello Keith. Gelcoat filler is subjective because under normal condition with polyester resin you would apply 20ml per 1kg. But this product is used in very small quantities (5grm at a time) so a small dribble of catalyst would need to be used. Hope this helps.
