Description

Fibreglass Supplies Premium Addition Cure RTV Silicone Rubber is high-strength, professional-quality, silicone mould-making rubber designed for detailed casting, crafting and general mould production. Ideal for makers, sculptors and fabricators, RTV silicone is formulated for easy hand mixing and delivers excellent results without the need for specialist equipment.

RTV silicone's low viscosity allows it to flow smoothly into mould boxes and around intricate shapes, making it perfect for capturing fine surface detail on figures, art objects, sculptures and decorative components. The silicone and catalyst blend easily and can typically be used without vacuum degassing, making it a reliable option for both beginners and experienced mould makers.

Once cured, this addition cure silicone offers a Shore A hardness of 35-45, giving it a soft-to-medium feel that balances flexibility with durability. Its high elasticity allows for easy mould release, even from complex or undercut parts, while maintaining strong tear resistance for repeated use.

For best results, add the catalyst to the silicone, mix thoroughly, and allow the mixture to stand for a few minutes so trapped air can rise before pouring. When working with very fine detail and no degassing equipment, the silicone can also be brushed into detailed areas first, helping to reduce bubbles and improve surface accuracy.

This RTV silicone offers a generous working time of 40-60 minutes, allowing plenty of time for careful mixing and pouring. Cure time will depend on ambient temperature, but moulds are typically ready to release after 12-24 hours. Always ensure the silicone is fully cured and dry before demoulding, and allow extra time in colder conditions.

Could you tell me what the approximate coverage would be please ? May Thank Jon
Hi John. The usage is dependant on the surface being coated and whether it is sealed first of not. On sealed ply wood the coverage will be approx 400grm per metre square. Hope this helps
Hi Just bought some of this. There didn’t seem to be any mixing instructions though if you can let me know what they are and any advice on application. Thanks Keith F
Hello Keith. Gelcoat filler is subjective because under normal condition with polyester resin you would apply 20ml per 1kg. But this product is used in very small quantities (5grm at a time) so a small dribble of catalyst would need to be used. Hope this helps.
Is the cured resin ok with diesel fuel. I need to seal the inside of a steel tank which will be very thoroughly cleaned. I anticipate 3 days curing in warm environment. Many thanks
Hi Simon. So sorry this has taken so long to answer. Please do not use general purpose as this will erode in ni time at all. The product you need is RTS 3000 as this is a proper tank sealer.
Hi is this plastic spheres or glass?
Hi Daniel. Fillite is like a fine powder but cures really hard. Spheres or glass is West 409.
I have a hollow Glass fibre spoiler- that needs more rigidity, having read up - 2 part high density foam sounds if it would help. But, how much to pour in, would it split the spoiler, do I need a large escape vent hole to ensure no warping ? , thanks DC
Hi Dale. Yes this needs an escape hole and the calculation is every 1kg mix is 1 x cubic foot.
Does the value 5kg resin come with catalyst and any measuring syringe...for accurate mix?
Hi Yagesh. Yes it does come with a catalyst but no syringe.
Can you mix a colour match if I send in a chip of my gelcoat? Closest colour on RAL chart is 5018 turquoise blue but it isn’t that close. Also looking for Scott Bader 337 white
Hi Dean. Please send in a well polished sample at approx 2" and we will get it checked. Scott Bader 337 is a stock item.
Could you please give me the dimension of the bucket. Also is it food grade? Thanks
Hi Domi. Our fisherman use these containers for their fish products so i am confident they are food safe. The dimensions are:- Diam 37cm / Ht 32cm. No certifications are issued for the food safty standard of this product.
Are these beads made from polypropylene? We are looking for polypropylene grit size 100 . We have a 500 M2 floor to top coat with polypropylene grit additive. Many thanks, jordan
Hi Jordan. The beads are a silicone product suspended within a topcoat product. Unsure of the dimensions of the beads.
I want to use this filler to fill some screw holes and gouges up to 5mm deep on a vertical surface but it's too runny. Is there a way of thickening it?
Hi Kim. I would first fill the holes with a strong body filler leaving about 2mm the replace the gelcoat. Gelcoat, if applied too thick is prone to cracking.
Can I use on fiberglass boat repair
Hi Dan. A gelcoat filler ( white) is the best option if they are small gelcoat repairs.
will this product be suitable for sticking a PU fabric patch on a garden sun lounger?
Hi Nigel. I would suspect a strong fabric adhesive would be more suitable than PU adhesive.
