Description

Our Carborundum Grit is an extremely hardwearing additive used to provide a coarse, durable and non-slip finish when applied to gelcoats and topcoats. Sprinkle onto the surface while the coating is still wet and it bonds securely to create a textured layer that delivers long-lasting slip resistance and exceptional durability.

Engineered for tough environments such as decks, walkways and working surfaces or boats and marine structures exposed to constant abrasion from ropes, chains, or heavy equipment. Once cured, it creates a permanent, safe, high-grip textured surface that resists wear and tear even in heavy-use areas, providing confidence underfoot in wet, slippery or high-traffic conditions.

When applied to laminates, this grit produces a surface that is so strong and dense that it cannot be drilled or cut afterwards. This makes it an ideal solution for applications where a permanent, non-slip finish is required and long-term resilience is essential.

  • Provides a coarse, non-slip finish on gelcoats & topcoats
  • Extremely hardwearing for long-term durability
  • Ideal for boats, marine surfaces & areas prone to abrasion
  • Protects against wear from ropes, chains & heavy use
  • Bonds permanently so surfaces treated with grit cannot be drilled or cut
  • Simple application, just sprinkle onto wet gelcoat or topcoat for secure adhesion
  • Sizes available: 5kg or 25kg

Could you tell me what the approximate coverage would be please ? May Thank Jon
Hi John. The usage is dependant on the surface being coated and whether it is sealed first of not. On sealed ply wood the coverage will be approx 400grm per metre square. Hope this helps
Hi Just bought some of this. There didn’t seem to be any mixing instructions though if you can let me know what they are and any advice on application. Thanks Keith F
Hello Keith. Gelcoat filler is subjective because under normal condition with polyester resin you would apply 20ml per 1kg. But this product is used in very small quantities (5grm at a time) so a small dribble of catalyst would need to be used. Hope this helps.
