Available in square metre (m²) or full roll options. Fibreglass Chopped Strand Matting (CMS) is a versatile, easy-to-use and affordable material for polyester resins in boat building and flat roofing. Made from chopped strands of e-glass bound with an emulsion binder soluble in styrene, this is a general purpose emulsion bound chopped strand mat designed to cover a wide range of applications by normal hand lay-up techniques.
The 300g mat is soft to handle and conforms well to complicated moulds and will shape more easily than the heavier 450g and 600g alternatives. This high quality mat is suitable for use with unsaturated polyester resins. Resin penetration (wet through, or working time) is rapid with a fast strand wet out time.
Suitable uses: Often used in the boat building and fibreglass flat roofing industries and the manufacture of fibreglass moulds for part making. Used in conjunction with polyester resins, this material also has multiple repair applications.

Bangladeshi boat being restoredReviewed by Paddler69 on 24 Sep 2025
Been restoring two bangadesi Nowkas over the past 5 years, the second one ,shown, is in very poor condition with wide gaps between planks and much rotten wood. The CSM has bridged the trouble spots and ensured good penetration of the epoxy. The cloth and tape will finish the job, next year!
